Passengers on a recent American Airlines aircraft from Dallas to Minneapolis were shocked when water began to flow from a rear lavatory, filling the cabin in the middle of the flight.
The incident, which took place on December 7, caused terror among flyers, who believed they might “drown” 30,000 feet above the ground.
According to The New York Post, the viral flood video, which was released on TikTok, has already received more than 7.2 million views. “The in-flight movie was Titanic,” the film’s poster captioned the popular footage.
According to reports, passengers were concerned by the water leak, with some afraid they might “drown” at 30,000 feet altitude. American Airlines has yet to comment on the event.
Footage from the incident was also shared on X (previously Twitter), showing astonished passengers trying to dodge the rising water, which continued to creep down the aisle.
Hilary Stewart Blazevic, a passenger on board, told Storyful that a woman used the restroom and notified a flight attendant about the leak. However, the cabin crew was unable to stem the flow. “It was utter disbelief and a little panic realizing they can’t shut off the water,” Blazevic recalled. Passengers rushed to get their stuff and avoid walking into the “disgusting” pool that had formed on the floor.
The viral video has elicited various emotions online, with some joking that the tragedy is their “new ‘Final Destination’ fear,” referring to the popular horror franchise that depicted similar disastrous scenarios.
“I just hope that’s water and not toilet water,” one viewer said.
A different member posted a concern: “Worrying about drowning is silly, but worrying about the water running down to where the flight control electronics are and shorting them out is less silly.”
