AMSTERDAM- KLM In June 2025, Royal Dutch Airlines (KL) plans to increase flight frequency to several U.S. destinations, improving connection between the Netherlands and major American cities.
According to Ishrion Aviation, the airline plans to significantly boost weekly flights to Salt Lake City, Austin, Minneapolis, and Boston.
KLM US Flights Increase
The expansion specifics indicate a strategic increase in service frequency. Salt Lake City flights will double from three to six each week, giving travelers additional flexibility.
Austin services will rise from three to five flights per week, providing more connections for business and leisure tourists.
Minneapolis will receive a similar bump, with flight frequency increasing from three to five weekly. Boston routes will see a minor increase from four to five weekly flights, bolstering KLM’s foothold in the Northeast United States market.
KLM has just introduced new European destinations. Apart from the United States, KLM has made various adjustments to its flights to Asia.
New European Destinations
KLM In 2025, Royal Dutch Airlines will introduce daily flights to Ljubljana and Exeter, as well as seasonal service to Biarritz, as part of a strategic expansion of its European network.
Amsterdam-Ljubljana Route
Starting March 30, 2025, KLM will operate daily flights between Amsterdam and Ljubljana with an Embraer 190 aircraft. Flight KL1989 departs Amsterdam Schiphol Airport at 10:15 AM and arrives in Ljubljana at 12:05 PM.
The return flight, KL1990, leaves Ljubljana at 12:35 PM and arrives in Amsterdam at 2:25 PM. Slovenia’s capital has several attractions for both business travelers and tourists, including various landscapes, natural beauty, and rich cultural experiences.
Amsterdam-Exeter Route
Beginning March 30, 2025, KLM will operate daily flights between Amsterdam and Exeter on an Embraer 175. Flight KL1101 left Amsterdam at 4:15 PM and arrives in Exeter at 4:50 PM local time.
The return flight, KL1102, departs Exeter at 5:20 PM and arrives in Amsterdam at 7:50 PM. Exeter is a gateway to Devon and Cornwall, and it is located near the Jurassic Coast, which is a World Heritage Site.
This route restores a direct connection between Amsterdam and Exeter, which was previously canceled following FlyBe’s bankruptcy in 2019.
Amsterdam-Biarritz Seasonal Service
Beginning April 19, 2025, KLM will fly seasonal flights to Biarritz with an Embraer 190. The route will include daily flights during high season and twice-weekly service during the off-season. The summer schedule contains:
Peak Period (April 19–October 25, 2025 – Saturday and Sunday):
- KL1485 departs Amsterdam at 2:20 PM and arrives in Biarritz at 4:20 PM.
- KL1486 returns from Biarritz at 4:50 PM, arriving in Amsterdam at 6:50 PM.
Extended Summer Period (June 30 to August 22, 2025, Monday-Friday):
- Same flight times as the peak period schedule.
Biarritz, located on the Bay of Biscay in southwestern France, is known as Europe’s surfing center. The French Basque area, with its distinctive blend of beaches, forests, mountains, towns, and traditional Basque villages, is an appealing tourist destination.
Asia Flight Changes
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has submitted strategic changes to its East and South Asian route operations for the Northern summer 2025 season, according to Aeroroutes.
The airline’s extensive network changes affect significant destinations such as Bangalore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Mumbai, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Denpasar, Taipei, Manila, and Tokyo Narita. These changes demonstrate KLM’s adaptable approach to route planning and fleet management.
Specific route modifications include lowering Beijing services from seven to six weekly flights, with Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Despite early forecasts of six weekly flights, the Amsterdam-Hong Kong route will continue to operate four times per week with 787-9 equipment.
The Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta route will be operated six times per week rather than seven, with 787-9 aircraft remaining in service. Between May and October 2025, 787-10 will replace 777-200ER on Mumbai routes.
Osaka Kansai reduces flights from five to three per week, with plans to increase to four per week from August 10, 2025, using 787-9 aircraft. Seoul Incheon routes will include complex aircraft rotations involving 777-300ER and 777-200ER deployments.
Shanghai Pudong services are being significantly restructured, with a gradual reduction from seven to six weekly flights and strategic aircraft replacements. Between July and August 2025, there will be temporary aircraft swaps on the Singapore-Denpasar route.
The Taipei Taoyuan-Manila route will continue to operate four times per week using 787-9 aircraft, down from seven times per week originally planned. Tokyo Narita will switch to a daily 777-200ER service, replacing the existing schedule of 5 weekly 787-9 and 2 weekly 777-200ER flights.
