NEW YORK- Delta Air Lines (DL), located in Atlanta, will restart seasonal direct flights between Rio de Janeiro and New York City from December 20, 2024 to March 27, 2025. The route connects two of the world’s most vibrant cities, allowing for cultural interchange, family visits, and commercial exchanges between Brazil and the United States.
The route will be operated by a Boeing 767-300ER with four unique passenger classes to serve a wide range of travel preferences. The airplane can accommodate 215 passengers across several service levels.
Delta Rio De Janeiro Flight
Delta One has 25 premium seats placed in a 1-2-1 arrangement, ensuring direct aisle access for all passengers. These seats completely recline into beds, ensuring ultimate relaxation. Passengers receive Missoni-branded amenity packs containing Grown Alchemist skincare products.
Travelers can pre-order main course meals through the Fly Delta app between one week and 24 hours before departing.
Delta Premium Select has 18 broader seats with improved recline, adjustable headrests, and footrests. Passengers enjoy locally influenced cuisine and customized service. They also receive handcrafted amenity packs from Mexican firm Someone Somewhere, which include travel basics.
Delta Comfort+ offers 21 seats with dedicated overhead bin space and preferential cabin location. The Main Cabin features 151 ergonomic seats with individual entertainment displays.
Returning travelers can use the newly opened Delta One Lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The 39,000-square-foot facility offers gourmet cuisine, wellness treatments, valet service, and leisure rooms prior to boarding.

Delta Brazil-US Flight Network
Delta Air Lines is improving connection between Brazil and the United States by restoring seasonal flights and increasing flight frequency. During the summer months in the Southern Hemisphere, the airline will resume direct flights from Rio de Janeiro to New York and increase its Atlanta service.
Delta’s Regional Sales Manager in Brazil, Ricardo de Oliveira, emphasized the strategic importance of these routes.
The seasonal route between Rio de Janeiro (GIG) and New York (JFK) caters to people seeking holiday destinations during peak travel seasons, accommodating both Brazilian tourists visiting the United States and Americans fleeing cold weather.
The JFK-GIG route is part of Delta’s joint venture with LATAM, which has already flown over 11,000 flights and transported more than 2 million passengers in two years. This collaboration offers three daily frequencies to New York, including flights from São Paulo, highlighting the alliance’s extensive network.
In addition to the New York route, Delta will improve its Rio de Janeiro to Atlanta service.
Upgrades São Paulo to Atlanta Route
Delta upgraded its fleet and passenger experience by introducing the Airbus 330-900neo on its daytime São Paulo-Atlanta service. Delta’s new aircraft demonstrates the company’s dedication to modern technology and improved passenger comfort.
The Airbus 330-900neo stands out for its advanced technical capabilities, which boost efficiency and passenger pleasure. Delta now operates two routes between São Paulo and Atlanta: daytime and nighttime, with the new aircraft covering the daytime route.
The aircraft has Delta One Suites, a premium cabin design that has transformed long-haul travel. Individual sliding doors are included in each apartment, ensuring that passengers have maximum privacy. The 1-2-1 seating configuration ensures that each passenger has direct aisle access, reducing the bother of crawling over other passengers.
Delta One passengers receive a comprehensive premium experience. Seats entirely recline into lie-flat beds, with seasonally curated dishes created by expert chefs. The amenities include a large assortment of complimentary beverages such as beers, spirits, wines, liquors, and champagne.
The premium offering includes carefully selected comforts. Passengers are given Missoni-branded toiletry packages and the Delta One Bedding line. This set contains a sustainable duvet made from recycled plastic bottles, a huge sleeping pillow, soft slippers, and noise-cancelling headphones.

Delta plans to considerably expand its Atlanta operations by summer 2025, with roughly 1,000 daily flights scheduled across its broad network. This is the largest schedule in the company’s history, with about 1.1 million weekly seats, a significant increase from 2024 levels.
