China Airlines will acquire 24 widebody aircraft, with the agreement divided among the Airbus A350-1000, Boeing 777-9, and Boeing 777-8 freighters.
The airline plans to acquire ten of each passenger model and four cargo aircraft, according to the statement.
China Airlines estimates the agreement is worth roughly $11.8 billion, citing prices of up to $530 million and $448 million for the 777-9s and A350s, and $519 million for the 777-8Fs.
It has provided few other specifics about the agreement, other than the fact that it is “to replace ageing fleet and improve operating efficiency”.
However, the airline has also confirmed a deal for seven spare engines.
These include four GE Aerospace GE9X powerplants for the 777s and three Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines for the A350s.
China Airlines rates the engine acquisition at $390 million.
