Bank of America’s branch closures will continue throughout the new year. Here is a list of places that may be closed beginning in January 2025.
Each week, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) publishes a list of bank branches that will close in the future months. Some of these bulletins involve the closure of many Bank of America branches, which could start as early as January 2025.
Banks cannot close a branch overnight because they must inform the OCC at least 90 days before the proposed closing date.
Such information is provided via an Advance Notice of Branch Closing, which is distributed by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in weekly bulletins and on its official website.
Banking institutions close or relocate branches for a variety of reasons, including the fact that they are unprofitable in the city where they are located. Closures have increased in recent years as internet banking has grown in popularity.
Customers’ banking needs have evolved as technology has advanced, with an increase in the amount of transactions that may be completed outside of the bank, whether at ATMs, via a mobile app, or through online banking.

Given that a bank’s closure must be announced at least 90 days in advance, we may expect the October newsletters to include information on Bank of America branches that may close in January of next year.
