Spirit Airlines stated today that it will introduce 24 additional routes this spring. Several of the links are new to the Spirit network, while others are resuming services from past years. The majority of the new flights go to Nashville and popular beach locations including Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.
A little beach break
This spring, Spirit Airlines will add three new routes and reinstate others, largely to Gulf of Mexico island locations. Flights between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and Punta Cana (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic will commence on March 20th, 2024, and run four times each week until April 8th.
Travelers from Kentucky searching for a beach vacation will soon be able to book a trip from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) to Myrtle Beach (MYR) in South Carolina. The link was last served in June 2022 and will be available four times each week between March 19th and April 7th.
A new route to San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in Puerto Rico is now available for passengers seeking a domestic Caribbean holiday. Spirit Airlines will resume daily flights from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to San Juan using an Airbus A321neo with a seating capacity of 176 passengers from February 12th to March 18th.
A new nonstop trip from San Antonio (SAT) to San Juan will operate three to four times per week this spring on an Airbus A320neo, with no direct competition. According to the San Antonio Express-News, San Antonio’s Air Service Administrator Jacob Tyler said that residents are eager for the new link to begin.
“The ties between our region and Puerto Rico have grown substantially in recent years.
“Establishing nonstop service between San Antonio and San Juan has been a priority.”

Speaking of San Antonio, the airline has introduced spring break flights to Miami International Airport (MIA). From March 5th to March 17th, an Airbus A3321 service will run four times per week. These are in addition to previously announced flights to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) during the Mardi Gras season, which will run from February 20th to March 9th.
Later this spring, the carrier will launch daily service from San Antonio to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL).
The low-cost carrier has also expanded its service from the state’s main airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), to three more communities. Between March 6th and March 21st, the carrier’s 222-seat Airbus A321 will operate a daily flight to Charlotte (CLT).
Two beach resorts in Florida are getting new connections: Pensacola (PNS) with four weekly flights and Tampa (TPA) with daily service. Both routes were previously served in 2024 and will operate between March 5th and March 18th.
Spirit will also launch a new route from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to Nashville this spring.
More flights to Music City
This spring, Tennessee’s Nashville International Airport (BNA) will welcome several new links. In addition to the flight from Houston, Spirit will add two nonstop flights to Florida. Flights to Fort Myers/Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) and Pensacola will operate in March. Fort Meyers was previously served by Spirit from Nashville in April.
There will also be one weekly flight from Nashville to Miami and a daily service to Boston.
Mardi Gras comes again
In addition to the previously reported route from San Antonio, Spirit is increasing service to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport from multiple destinations to fulfill demand during the city’s legendary Mardi Gras celebrations, which will end on March 4th, 2025, the day before Ash Wednesday.
Additional flights have been scheduled from the Louisiana Airport to Indianapolis (IND), Columbus (CMH), and Memphis (MEM).
Back for another season
A Spirit Airlines spokeswoman told Simple Flying today that numerous additional routes will restart in March. In addition to the previously listed routes, the carrier will start flying on the highly competitive route from Atlanta to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).
Myrtle Beach will be reconnected to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) and Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Connecticut, while Louisville’s link to Tampa will be extended for another season.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will get the remaining Florida resumptions, with flights to Los Angeles (LAX) and Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) in Managua, Nicaragua.
Speaking exclusively to Simple Flying today, a Spirit Airlines spokeswoman confirmed that the carrier will add flights during Spring Break to the following 14 city pairs this year, including several of the previously reported routes:
