$1600 Stimulus Check Mechanism
With the recent declaration of a $1.5 billion fiscal surplus, Colorado is preparing to issue stimulus cheques as part of the TABOR return. These refunds are intended to immediately reduce the economic burden on residents by repaying excess government money.
The average return is $800 for solo taxpayers and $1,600 for married couples filing jointly. This financial alleviation benefits individual residents while also stimulating the local economy by raising consumer purchasing power.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the TABOR reimbursement, residents must meet the following criteria:
- Residency: Must have been in Colorado for more than a year.
- Tax Compliance: Colorado 2023 DR 0104 tax returns must be filed by April 15, 2024.
- Age and Continuous Residence: Must be 18 years old and have lived in Colorado for at least 183 days in the fiscal year.
- Legal Status: There should be no outstanding tax debts or criminal convictions that resulted in 180 days or more of jail during the fiscal year.
