Air India San Francisco Flight

Flight Radar 24 data shows that instead of its planned departure time of 04:00 am IST, AI173 left Delhi (DEL) with a delay of 2 hours and 45 minutes at 06:45 am IST.

Still, the pilots did not descend the jet when it approached San Francisco (SFO). Instead, the jet kept flying at 39,000 feet, the cruise level. This suggests that the pilots had already resolved to veer off course.

From San Francisco, the plane soared for another one hour and eleven minutes before landing on runway 26 Left in Los Angeles (LAX) at 16:51 local time.

Delivered to Air India (AI), the 15.6-year-old Boeing 777-200 LR registered as VT-AEI ran the flight.

It is unknown exactly why this deviation occurs. The severe weather in San Francisco, however, is expected to have driven the flight to veers to Los Angeles.

Following almost three hours and thirty minutes on land in Los Angeles, the aircraft left LAX from runway 24 Left at 20:24 local time.

From Los Angeles, the aircraft flew for almost one hour and eleven minutes until landing on runway 28 Right in San Francisco (SFO), on the same day at 22:06 local time.

More details on this detour are much awaited. Once we have a fresh update, we will post something. Keep watching.

Los Angeles Flight on Horizon

As Air India takes receipt of Airbus A350s, sources state that it is intending to open new US locations like Dallas (DFW) and Los Angeles.

Air India introduced a new route to United States of America (USA about ten years ago).

Combining Boeing 777 and Airbus A350s, the airline might run flights to Los Angeles from its main international hub in Delhi. Del-LAX is 12,896 km and will take more than 15 hours to get across.

At now, the Gurugram-based carrier flies five US cities—Chicago (ORD), Newark (EWR), New York (JFK), San Francisco (SFO), and Washington (IAD).
