When a natural disaster strikes, the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) may enable states to provide SNAP replacements. If you were recently impacted by extreme weather in Oregon, you may still be eligible for Food Stamp benefits.
For your information, some Oregonians have lost all or portion of the food they purchased using food stamps. As a result, if you used your SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits to purchase the food you lost, you could be entitled for replacement in Oregon. Of course, replacements are only available to those harmed by last month’s harsh weather.
How can Oregonians request SNAP replacement?
According to the Oregon Department of Human Services (an official website of the State of Oregon), there are three simple ways to request Food Stamps replacement. If you lost food in a natural disaster, such as a flood, storm, or fire, or even due to a power outage, you can:
- visit a local office
- call the phone number: 800-699-9075
- filling out an online form is another possibility, but then you will have to mail it to: [email protected]
Those SNAP recipients in Oregons who need to fill out this form can get it at: https://sharedsystems.dhsoha.state.or.us/DHSForms/Served/de0349d.pdf. Those Food Stamp recipients who need to find a local office can do so at: https://www.oregon.gov/odhs/Pages/office-finder.aspx?serviceid=22.
