LONDON- British Airways (BA) will boost its weekly flights from London Heathrow (LHR) to Nashville (BNA) from seven to ten between August 6 and September 10, 2025.
Iberia suspends its Washington Dulles (IAD) to Madrid (MAD) service in January, February, and early March 2025, leaving the route unserviced during the first quarter.
British Airways Nashville Flights
British Airways adds a second daily flight on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
The period corresponds to Icelandair’s (FI) debut summer season in Nashville, implying competitive positioning by British Airways.
The short-term expansion may make use of available aircraft and slots following peak summer traffic.
British Airways now serves over 25 destinations in the United States.
Iberia Cuts Washington
Iberia (IB) made this decision despite employing the fuel-efficient A321neo XLR aircraft, according to Enilria.
The route suspension follows a pattern that began in the first quarter of 2024, when no airline served this market. The A321neo XLR’s reduced capacity made winter operations unfeasible, confounding expectations about the aircraft’s year-round route sustainability.
United Airlines has already discontinued IAD-MAD service until late March 2025. Flight data shows zero daily flights in January 2025, rising to 1.8 daily flights with 394 seats in April 2025.
This development follows PLAY Airlines’ (OG) struggles in the Washington IAD market, showing winter season difficulty for transatlantic carriers at Dulles.
As of December 2024, British Airways (Oneworld) serves 12 domestic routes and 202 overseas destinations in 79 countries.
