Envoy Air and the Embraer E-175
The Embraer E175 first flew with Air Canada in July 2005. Envoy Air began operating the aircraft in June 2016 and currently has 122 E175s in its fleet, according to ch-aviation data. This makes it the world’s third-largest operator of the E175, after only SkyWest Airlines (241) and Republic Airways (172).
The Embraer E175 has proven particularly popular with regional airlines in the United States, which are unable to operate the newer, larger E175-E2 due to scope clause restrictions on maximum take-off weight. Outside the United States, the largest operator is Jazz Aviation, which has 25 E175s in its fleet and operates flights on behalf of Air Canada Express, Air Canada’s regional division.
Each of Envoy Air’s Embraer E175s can accommodate up to 76 passengers in a two-class layout, with 12 in business class and 64 in economy. Envoy Air also operates 43 of the smaller E170s, with another 36 on order. Each E170 is equipped with 12 seats in business class and 55 in economy class.
Envoy Air flies nearly 1,000 flights each day for American Eagle, serving more than 150 locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. The carrier has operating bases at the four airports listed below:
- Airports include Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW)
- Miami International Airport (MIA)
- Chicago O’Hare (ORD),
- Phoenix-Sky Harbor (PHX).
Envoy Air is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Eagle that provides flights for the company’s regional airline, American Eagle. PSA Airlines, Piedmont Airlines, Air Wisconsin, Republic Airways, and SkyWest Airlines are among the other airlines that fly on American Eagle’s behalf, alongside Envoy Air.
